Overview
This policy describes how the Bible Study Android app
(package ssr.bible.reading), published by
J. Raavi, handles information. Bible Study is an offline-first
Bible study app. It lets you read the Bible in multiple
translations including Telugu and English, follow
cross-references, use word study and original-language
(Strong's) tools, look up a dictionary, search by full text or
phonetically, browse songs and sermons, keep notes,
highlights and bookmarks, and present in fullscreen mode.
In plain words: there is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. The developer never receives your data.
Information we collect
We do not collect any personal information. The developer does not receive, transmit or store any data from your use of the app.
Data you create while using the app is stored only locally on your device, in a SQLite database inside the app's private storage:
- Notes you write
- Highlights and bookmarks
- Search history
- App settings and preferences
All Bible and song content is bundled inside the app. The app makes no network requests to send or receive user data.
How information is used
The locally stored data is used only to provide the app's features on your device, for example showing your highlights, restoring your bookmarks, or suggesting past searches. It is never used for profiling, advertising or any other purpose.
Permissions
The app does not request any Android permission that accesses personal data.
| Access | Used? |
|---|---|
| Location | No |
| Contacts | No |
| Camera | No |
| Microphone | No |
| Your files and storage | No |
While you are reading, the app keeps your screen awake so it does not dim or lock mid-passage. This uses an Android window flag, requires no data access, and ends when you leave the app.
Data security
Your data stays in the app's private storage on your device and is protected by Android's application sandbox. Because nothing is sent to any server, there is no server-side copy that could be exposed. You are responsible for keeping your device secure, for example with a screen lock and device encryption.
Data retention and deletion
Data is kept on your device until you remove it. You can delete individual notes, highlights and bookmarks inside the app. To delete everything, either:
- uninstall the app, or
- clear the app's data in Android Settings (Apps, Bible Study, Storage, Clear data).
Either action permanently deletes all locally stored data. Since the developer never receives your data, there is nothing on any server to delete.
Children's privacy
The app is suitable for all ages. It does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no advertising and no tracking.
Your rights
Privacy laws such as the EU/UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 give people rights to access, correct, delete or port their personal data, and to opt out of its sale. The developer does not process your personal data: it never leaves your device and nothing is sold or shared. Those rights are therefore met directly by the controls on your device, where you can view, edit and delete everything the app stores. If you have any question or request, contact us below.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Please check back from time to time. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
